Structural Health Monitoring

The service life for a substantial portion of the built environment has expired or is close to expiring. However, there is a consensus that lifetime can be extended if safety requirements are fulfilled. Structural health monitoring indicates a class of methods and technologies that aim to assess the condition of a structural system. This area explores innovative measurement technologies such as cameras, lidar, optical sensors, and satellite imagery to capture data with high spatial and temporal resolution. Machine learning methods are investigated to extract information about the condition of the structural system. Agentic artificial intelligence is also explored to automate the operation of structural health monitoring systems.
