Physics-based and data-driven simulations methods

This methodological research area deals with development of tools for simulating the behaviour of civil engineering systems from material to structural and regional scale. Traditional areas such as computational mechanics, system dynamics and uncertainty quantification are the cornerstone of this area. Coupling methods for multi-physics, multi-scale, and hybrid numerical-experimental modelling are at the centre of our agenda. When it comes to data, we both deal with traditional techniques like system identification and model updating as well as more recent paradigms for data-driven modelling and physics-informed machine learning. Our infrastructure features a few test benches for hybrid testing and vibration testing..
