The construction sector accounts for a very large share of manmade greenhouse gas emissions. In a sustainable future, this share has to be reduced significantly in all parts of the construction lifecycle. Together with industry, we develop new knowledge and new solutions with a focus on regenerative construction, resource consumption, carbon footprint and planetary thresholds. For example, we work with design for disassembly, reuse of building materials, energy storage, advanced materials and new construction techniques, and we test and trial new technological solutions for the buildings of the future.
