Johan C.S. Clausen has a M.Sc degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from Aalborg University, 2003. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering after defending his thesis titled "Efficient Non-Linear Finite Element Implementation of Elasto-Plasticity for Geotechnical Problems" at Aalborg University in 2008. Following that, he was employed as a postdoc, assistant professor, and associate professor at the Department of Building and Construction, Aalborg University. His primary areas of teaching and research have included the finite element method, structural mechanics, as well as concrete, steel, and timber structures. In 2019, he was appointed associate professor at the Department of Engineering, Aarhus University. Since 2021, Johan has been so-called head of programme for the BSc and M.Sc programmes Civil and Architectural Engineering.
