Profile

I am an Industrial engineer with a Ph.D. in Engineering Science. I have more than 12 years of experience in the construction industry as an external consultant and in developing training programs to strengthen the skills and competencies of project managers in 3D modeling and Lean Construction. My research interests are the integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM), Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), and Lean Construction for the development of new systems based on Digital Twins. Additionally, my research line is oriented to determine how changes in the production system design affect the overall construction project performance and impact CO2 emissions using simulation

Research

Predictive carbon emissions monitoring and control system for earthwork and interior work using simulation and remote sensing technologies.

Aim: This project aims to devise, design, and implement a predictive carbon emissions (CE) monitoring and control system prototype for earthwork and interior work in construction projects using simulation and remote sensing technologies

Teaching activities

Construction 4.0

Course Objective:

This course aims to provide students with a basic understanding of all technological advances in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) sector, which are shaping the framework of Construction 4.0.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the course, the students are expected to be able to:

  • Discover the impact of Industry 4.0 on the AEC Industry.
  • Discover the barriers for implementing Industry 4.0.
  • Explore the opportunities for innovation in the construction industry.
  • Discover how to plan, design, and deliver built environment assets more effectively and efficiently by focusing on the physical-to-digital transformation and digital-to-physical transformation
  • Understand the relationship between Building information modeling (BIM) and a cloud-based Common Data Environment (CDE)
  • Explore Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), their features, benefits, and drawbacks.
  • Discover applications of advantages digital technologies, tools and material, such as: Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR), pre-fabrication and modular construction, sensors, autonomous construction, and robots, among others.
