Profile

Dr. Giuseppe D’Arenzo is an Assistant Professor of Timber Structures at the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering, Aarhus University. He obtained a B.Sc. degree in Construction Engineering from the University of Palermo in 2013, followed by a M.Sc. degree cum laude in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic of Turin in 2016. In 2020, he successfully obtained his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from the University of Enna “Kore”. Prior to joining Aarhus University, Giuseppe worked as Researcher and Lecturer in the Department of Timber Structures and Building Rehabilitation at the University of Kassel from 2019 to 2023.

Research

Giuseppe’s research activity focuses on timber structures, with a specific emphasis on panelised structures, timber lateral load resisting systems and connections. He has conducted extensive investigations into Cross-Laminated Timber structures, timber shear wall systems, floor diaphragms, and high-performance connections utilizing experimental, analytical and numerical techniques.

Teaching

Giuseppe’s educational contributions are centred around Timber Structures and Structural Engineering and aim to shape the next generation of structural engineers. His teaching portfolio includes university courses of Timber Structures, Structural Design, Structural Engineering, and Earthquake Engineering.
